Pro-Life Corner

“The state has an interest (responsibility) in protecting the poor, the elderly and disabled persons. The lives of the disabled and elderly must be no less valuable than the lives of young and healthy … The difficulty in defining terminal illness and the risk that a dying patient’s request for assistance in ending his or her life might not be truly voluntary justifies the prohibitions on assisted suicide we uphold here.” – Chief Justice William Rehnquist

Pennsylvania: Court Releases Report on Abuse in Six Dioceses

We have a long way to go yet. Weeding out the evil takes a lot of work.

The much-anticipated grand jury report on clerical abuse in six Pennsylvania dioceses was released August 14, 2018.
The document – more than 1,350 pages long – cites credible accusations of abuse against more than 300 priests, with more than 1,000 victims involved. The study took two years and was overseen by Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro.
“The cover-up was sophisticated. And all the while, shockingly, church leadership kept records of the abuse and the cover-up. These documents, from the dioceses’ own ‘Secret Archives,’ formed the backbone of this investigation,” he said at a news conference in Harrisburg, according to Associated Press.

Transfiguration of Our Lord

Taken from the reading from Matthew 17:1-9. Jesus’ transfiguration illustrates for us His absolute power and authority over us. This is a good thing. Because in the transfiguration we see clearly it communicates His power and authority to judge. This means He has authority to judge us forgiven. But would He? Listen and find out!

Pope’s Morning Homily: God’s Great Gift? Women

According to Vatican Radio, Pope Francis stressed this to faithful during his daily morning Mass at Casa Santa Marta, as he reflected on the creation of woman, as told in Genesis, and on how God created woman, in his personal opinion, so that we would all have a mother.

“Without women, there is no harmony in the world, ” the Pope stressed, noting men and women are not equal. While clarifying that one is not superior to the other, he explained that it is the woman, and not the man, who brings that harmony which makes the world a beautiful place.

For this reason, he also pointed out, that while exploiting all people is a crime, exploiting women is worse, for it destroys harmony. …
