Chapter nine shares Paul’s sorrow that many Israelites will not make it to heaven. He goes on to explain that the heritage of Abraham was not meant through bloodline or DNA, but by God calling us as chosen children of God. Being a child of God is not something we made happen. God offered this freely, and we have a choice to accept this gift or not. Continue reading “Bible: Romans #14”
Domingo XXXII tiempo ordinario ciclo B 2018
Continue reading “Domingo XXXII tiempo ordinario ciclo B 2018”
Knights of Coumbus Helping Women Who Need a Little Help
The Knights of Columbus raised money for the Madonna Renewal Center (MRC) to help pregnant women who need some help getting on their own. The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, from Nigeria, completed their first phase of the old St Francis Hospital in Freeport IL. They can now take in up to ten women who are pregnant for up to two years after the birth of their child. Stipulations do apply. They will interview anybody who can make it to their doorstep, but please call ahead of time. at 1-815-297-8287.
The purpose of the MRC is to help pregnant bring their children to birth and teach them how to be independent with their child. They will learn how to take care of themselves, their children and get them on the road to developing job skills. The vision the sisters have is that all this will be done with a feel of home. Home is a place of security and family. They are not an institution of hand outs where the suffering continues after the handout. They really want to make the lives of these women better for the rest of their lives.
The Knights of Columbus are proud to help the Sisters in their ministries. The MRC is a special ministry in saving lives, saving souls and in protecting the most vulnerable. Being pregnant and abandoned is a vulnerable position to be in for these women. We all will look forward for them to receive what they need and never have to fall into that same vulnerability again. If you are a Catholic Man and would be interested in being part of the Knights, you can check out this web site:

The MRC will be having dance this Saturday night (11/10/18) at the Eagles Club.

Bible: Romans #13
From Verse 13 on, in Chapter 7 of Romans, Paul talks about how he hates the sin he does. The law made him aware of the sinfulness of his actions and the suffering it causes him and others. He now hates it, but has not yet gained the habit of changing these actions. Paul states, “What I do, I do not understand. For I do not do want I want, but I do what I hate” (v15).
How to Help Free the Souls in Purgatory
We can wield unimaginable power for the souls in purgatory during the week of All Souls Day, from Nov. 1-8. If we visit a cemetery and pray for a soul in purgatory, they a can be released by us; one on every one of those days. That is no small thing.
Imagine a soul’s euphoria to be suddenly bailed out of prison and taken to heaven. I know imagination is inadequate to comprehend such a moment, but still, it is a joy to partake in God’s mercy.
All Souls Day commemorates all who have died and are now are in Purgatory, being purified to atone for sins before reaching Heaven—where nothing unclean can enter (Revelation 21:27)…

Eyewitness Accounts of Encounters With Ghosts From Purgatory
Do Catholics believe in ghosts? Absolutely! Ghosts, defined as disembodied, human spirits (as opposed to angels), are one of the ways we know about purgatory (though it is also revealed by God). Jacobus de Voragine’s Golden Legend, coming out of the great thirteenth century, became one of the most popular books of the Middle Ages. You can think of it as an earlier version of Butler’s Lives of the Saints. We tend to think of a legend as something fictitious, but legenda simply meant something to be read. Some do accuse Voragine, however, of indulging in things we would consider legendary (which may have contributed to the modern meaning of the word). …
