Scheduling Mass Intentions
We encourage you to continue scheduling Mass intentions, offering the once-and-for-all sacrifice on Calvary – body, blood, soul and divinity – for your loved ones. While we are unable to physically attend the Masses being celebrated, it is a comfort to know that our loved ones are being prayed for.
For now, while we are not gathering together for Masses in public, we will not be offering intentions on Tuesday at 5:30 pm or Sunday at 10:30 am.
If you wish to give such graces for your friends and family members, you may send an intention request to 29 W. Washington Place, Freeport, IL 61032 (please note on the envelope that it is for a Mass intention), email us at stjoseph-freeport@rockforddiocese.org, or call the office at 815-232-8271, extension 3, and leave a message with your intention.
Northern Illinois Mobile Food Pantry
The Northern Illinois Food Truck will be at St Joseph Church on Tuesday, June 9, from Noon to 1:30pm.
We NEED volunteers to assist with distributing the food. All volunteers are required to wear a face covering and gloves; we will have a supply on hand if needed. Extra help will be required to move the line as quickly as possible and also maintain safe distancing.
Volunteers should check in by 11:30am. Please help us get food to those in our community who are suffering at this time. If you can help, call Mary Koppi at 815-232-4687.
Note to All Volunteers: Protecting God’s Children Requirements
Protecting God’s Children is a safe environment training program that is required of all volunteers having direct contact with children. If you do volunteer work for our churches (such as ushers, Eucharistic ministers, sacristans, money counters, lectors, etc.) and you have not completed this online program, or if you have not signed the new paperwork the Diocese sent out this year, you will need to complete it in order to remain on our volunteer list.
This needs to be completed NO LATER THAN June 20, 2020.
Please contact Ann Peters at 815-233-0005 (leave a message and your call will be returned) in order to obtain the paperwork that needs to be signed, the information for the online course, or if you have any questions regarding Protecting God’s Children. Thank you for your cooperation!
