A cradle Catholic once said, “Wouldn’t it be great if God actually came down to earth and walked with us and worked just like us and experienced everything we do?” It wasn’t till after he said this that he realized God already thought of it. It was such a great idea, God actually did it! It wasn’t till after that person said it that he realized the depth of the meaning of Christmas.
Jesus really does care about us. He came to us as that little child, showing us His mercy and gentleness. He left the world just as meek, letting Himself being condemned to death on the cross. He did not use violence or justification. Have you discovered God in this way? Do you believe that God can bring you happiness in your life? Money cannot bring happiness, nor can things. When I was a child, about a month after I got my Christmas presents, they were broken. Only God can bring us any lasting happiness.
That is why we have a free book to give to you called “Resisting Happiness”. It is a light read by Matthew Kelly that can pick up your soul and encourage you to find your true happiness. We are handing them out this Christmas to every household as a gift; no donations are needed, no strings attached. If you have not received one, please give us a call at the office and we will find a way to get it to you. Even if you are not a parishioner, you are welcome to this gift. We have many, but there is a limited supply. There are also so many other materials in the back of the church in both parishes. We have the Lighthouse CD’s in the rack with many gifted speakers that may help you grow in faith in many different topics. We try to keep thing current and up to date. The CD’s are free, but we ask that you donate three dollars to cover our costs.
Pamphlets are also available for reading. There are many specific topics that they address. They could cover topics from those that your friendly Evangelical might ask about to those that atheists would address. These informative pamphlets are free. If you use them often, we ask you to put a dollar in the cd rack from time to time. Some pamphlets have prayers. The blue ones teach you how to pray the Rosary with short meditations. The red ones teach you how to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. This prayer Jesus gave to St Faustina from Poland in the 1930s. Other prayer cards are also available for free. Feel free to give to family, friends or co-workers that you think may benefit from any of these materials.
Jesus has come. I hope you have invited Him into your home and your heart. He alone is the one who can fill us with peace and true fulfillment. May the warmth of His love and tenderness bring you the happiness your heart desires.
