In the back of the church by the bathroom is a small section dedicated to education and entertainment. We have many books, pamphlets and CDs. The materials are here to help anyone to grow in their relationship with Jesus. As Christians, it is important that we grow in unity with Jesus in our minds and hearts. The primary means to do that is filling our minds with what He teaches us in Sacred Scripture, tradition and the magisterium. As shaky as our times are, we can still rely on the Church’s teaching. How good it is to know we can rely on God and not have to figure things out ourselves.

The materials available are for anyone. The reading materials are from easy-to-read to very in-depth. Some are scholarly and some are for the average Joe or Jane. If you do not like reading or like to multitask, we have CDs. The pamphlets and CDs are something you can keep and are of no cost, but we do ask for a donation if you can afford it to help us cover the cost. Some people can give a little more for others who cannot afford it. Money should never be an issue for anyone wanting to grow in their relationship with Jesus. Feel free to hand them on to anyone you think would benefit from them. Some parents like to give them to their grown children that may be in another state. In addition to what is available for all parishioners is the parish app and the FORMED app for those who like technology. The parish app has all of Fr Barr’s homilies, as well as many of Bishop Barron’s talks. It can inform you of any events going on in the parish as well. The FORMED app has all the CDs we have and more, as well as books for your Kindle and many movies. It has movies about the lives of the saints, history, church teachings, children’s shows, and even prayers. Forming our minds to that of Christ is so important today where everything in the world is working overtime to tear apart the faith with new ideas. “Anyone who is so “progressive” as not to remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God; whoever remains in the teaching has the Father and the Son” (2 John:9). “And this world is passing away, along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever” (1John 2:17). How good it is to be one with God.
The Ambry is the place where the sacred oils are stored throughout the year. Normally, the Bishop is the only one who can bless these oils. This happens at the Chrism Mass every Holy Thursday morning. There are three different oils: the Holy Oil, the Sacred Chrism and the Oil of the Infirm. The oil of the Infirm is used for the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, also known as Extreme Unction or Last Rites. This Sacrament is found in James 5:14-15, “Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.” The oil for this sacrament is in the crystal bottle with OI etched on it. The Holy Oil is used for baptisms. This oil is applied on the chest of the infant signifying that that child was purchased by the most precious price of the blood of Jesus. Jesus has set them free. The Sacred Chrism has SC inscribed on it. This is used for Baptisms, Confirmations and Ordinations. This is the one that smells really good. It is an ancient mixture that goes back to the time of Moses. There is a small description of it in Psalm 133:2. Priests and kings were anointed with this oil. It is a sign of one who is chosen by God. Yes, every baptized person is chosen by God to bring His love and mercy and transform the world with it. It is an oil that speaks of true authority over souls in the priesthood and the bond of unity that is possible through it.
